Dr. Mayer doesn't see himself just as a local dentist but also as a proud member of the Fairport, NY community. He's donated a lot of time and advice through his sports affiliations to several local area sports teams and organizations.

He is the official team dentist of the Rochester Red Wings, the Triple–A Affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Over his 19 seasons as a team dentist, Dr. Mayer has seen many of his patients go on to play Major League Baseball.

He was previously the official team dentist of the Rochester RazorSharks, who won the 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014 & 2015 Premier Basketball League Championships.

Dr. Mayer has volunteered for Youth Lifeline America, the non-profit organization dedicated to teaching youth valuable life skills through the influence of athletes, entertainers, and business professionals. Dr. Mayer provides education on dental health, the dangers of tobacco use, and the importance of dental protection in the sports arena.
